Second Annual Skoolz of Rock Set for March 24
The 2nd annual Skoolz of Rock Battling Bands presented by Leadership La Porte County will take place in La Porte on March 24 from 5 to 10 p.m. Last year’s event drew 10 bands consisting of musicians between the ages of 15 to 21. Executive Director of Leadership La Porte County Monica Komasinski said they will limit the event to the same number of bands this year.
A panel of judges with music industry knowledge will listen to the bands during the event, judging their music, vocals and stage presence.
Contestants will be battling for a prize package from Ernie Ball guitar, a band photo shoot, a live gig performance at Great Lakes Grand Prix, a four-hour recording package and more.
Pizza and beverages will be available, and tickets can be purchase at the door the evening of the event. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults and children younger than age 10 are free.
There is a $100 entry fee for bands. All band entries should be submitted by Feb. 24.
