Fund Story
The AAUW (American Association of University Women) was founded in 1881 to promote education and equity for women and girls. It has expanded to include research on women’s issues and provide grants to women to further their education (over $4 million worth in 2014). The La Porte branch, founded in 1928, sponsors an annual “Prominent Women of Indiana” essay contest for high school girls, a school board candidate forum, a planter at StoleKae Beach, and programs of interest to the community such as “Evening with a Fist Lady.” For more information, visit AAUW.org
