Fund Story
Dennis moved to Long Beach in 1952 and attended Long Beach school from Kindergarten through 8th grade. His years in Long Beach in the 50’s and 60’s were formative and impactful. Lifelong friendships continue today with his 1964 LBS 8th grade classmates. He has been involved with Long Beach garden development projects for the last 20 years and established an annual college scholarship award in his mother’s name, June Kelley, through the P.E.O. Foundation to promote women’s advancement in education in La Porte County.
Dennis graduated from MC Elston in 1968, DePauw University in 1972 and the Thunderbird School of Global Management (Arizona State University) with a master’s degree in international business in 1974. He has lived and worked overseas for his entire professional career starting with Cummins Engine Company in 1974. For the last 25 years he has been directly involved with the global nuclear industry as a specialist in the treatment and disposal of nuclear waste.
Dennis resides in Indianapolis and visits the area many times each year to see old friends. He credits his success in life to his parents and their vision to reside in Long Beach and Michigan City. Through the establishment of the Dennis B. Kelly Community Fund, he wishes to provide educational and economic opportunities to residents of La Porte County.
