Fund Story

This fund was started in 2022 in memory of Richard “Dick” Reel to preserve, maintain, and improve the physical and educational features of Pioneerland, an historic area located at the La Porte County Fairgrounds in La Porte, Indiana.

Dick developed Pioneerland at the La Porte County Fairgrounds using his knowledge gained from the State Fair Pioneer Village. This project, which began in 1995, now has 13 buildings with 130 volunteers operating the village during the fair. Dick, himself, demonstrated the old tools and methods used in woodworking, within the village at the fair and during other special events.

  • Gifts by credit card incur a processing fee for each transaction which will be deducted from your gift. The current fee is 3.5% per transaction. When donating online, we invite you to select the option to increase your gift to cover this fee so that your charitable intent can be fully realized.
