Fund Story

Jim and Kathy Nova have been active members of the local community for many years. Together they have more than fifty years of teaching experience. Kathy taught physical education for thirty-six years at New Prairie High School, retiring in 2012. During her career at New Prairie, Coach Nova coached multiple sports including girls' and boys' swimming. Jim taught building trades for sixteen years in the La Porte Community Schools. In 1976 Jim founded Nova Basement Systems, a basement structure and foundation repair company.

Jim and Kathy live in La Porte and enjoy traveling, scuba diving, bicycling, kayaking and attending NASCAR races.

They established this fund in 2022 to support a wide variety of charitable activities.
