Maurice Ndukwu, MD, MPH, was a beloved and admired physician in Michigan City and LaPorte for over twenty years. His patients came from all around the region and other states, to receive health care from him. He moved to the area in 2000 and invested heavily in the community, eventually building a medical office, 400 North Medical Center. He passed way unexpectedly in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic. Mrs. Ndukwu was a community volunteer and mentor, eventually becoming a school counselor and working at Michigan City High School. Their children were educated at schools in LaPorte County.
The Ndukwu Family Opportunity Fund provides small grants to LaPorte County residents and students to cover costs related to educational enrichment. Whether it’s college application fees, travel to college visits, STEM camps, or professional certifications, these awards help remove financial barriers and spark new learning experiences. By making modest investments in individuals, the fund strengthens our community and opens doors to brighter futures.
