Fund Story

The arts have made such a huge positive impact on Sandy Young’s life that it was an easy choice to open a Unity fund supporting such endeavors. Music and acting have greatly enriched her life for many years, and she has appeared in more than 60 theater productions regionally, including in La Porte, Michigan City, Valparaiso, and Chesterton. Favorite roles have included leads in Blithe Spirit, Noises Off, The Women, Crimes of the Heart, Wait Until Dark, The Elephant Man, and Vanities.

She also loves to sing, including with the La Porte First United Methodist Church’s Praise Team. And since she “retired” as Unity’s Vice President in 2016, she has added a full-time emphasis on writing women’s fiction novels.

The Sandra L. Young Arts Appreciation Fund was created to support special projects relating to theatrical productions, musical entertainment, art exhibitions, and workshops focusing on the written word.
