Representatives from the Home Team of La Porte County met with Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch on Saturday afternoon to share progress and highlight the goals of their 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.  The meeting, facilitated by State Representative Jim Pressel and former State Representative Tom Dermody, was an opportunity to share the way this group of more than 30 agencies is working together to address the homeless issues in our community.  Although the state’s number of homeless has seen a slight decrease, La Porte County’s homeless numbers increased from 2017 to 2018.  The Lt. Governor oversees the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority and showed great concern for those most vulnerable in our society and support of the Home Team’s efforts.  As she noted in her social media post, the Home Team is focused and taking action. Ed Seal, Home Team Coordinator, states, “Meeting with the Lt. Governor was a great way to highlight the Home Team’s success while motivating us toward greater action going forward. We appreciate that Lt. Governor Crouch and State Representative Pressel made time to learn more about our efforts to end homelessness in La Porte County.”

The Home Team’s mission is to strengthen communities in La Porte County to prevent and eliminate homelessness by establishing a comprehensive, coordinated system that is supported by local government leaders and owned by the wider community.  Our vision is to work together to create a county where all residents will live a life free from homelessness.  To learn more or see how you can be part of the solution, email hometeamlp@gmail.com for our meeting schedule.
