Fund Story

Ruth Sabin was a quiet leader. In 1888, she opened the Ruth C. Sabin Retirement Home using money left from the death of her husband. The three story home contained 35 rooms, and a trust was established to support maintenance of the home. Ruth herself lived in the home until her death in 1894. The home provided safe, affordable living facilities for hundreds of women and later men for 128 years.
