Imagine children of all ages and abilities playing together at a playground and splash pad designed for inclusion. In 2018, Bethany Church began to dream of renovating LaPark into a multi-generational, inclusive, playground and splash pad. Crucial to the renovation was knowing that INCLUSION MATTERS. Inclusive playgrounds are more costly to build with solid surfacing and adaptive equipment. It was a big dream. The community has responded with amazing support. Companies, individuals, clubs, foundations, and children with penny jars have helped to build LaPark Playground and Splash Pad and it will open in! Continued gifts to LaPark even after it’s completion, will assist with maintenance and upgrades that can help to allow PLAY for ALL AGES and ABILITIES to continue for years to come! Consider a special gift to LaPark!
Local Heroes Benefit
Red Wine and Brew is a concert, craft beer and wine tasting, and fireworks event held annually on July 3rd each year at Stone Lake Beach in LaPorte as a recognition and fundraising event for our local heroes, first responders. The LaPorte City Police, LaPorte County Sheriff, LaPorte City Fire, LaPorte County EMS, and the regional DNR are all actively volunteering to help make this event possible for our community and receive a share of the proceeds from the event. 100% of proceeds after expenses are given to these organizations, totaling over $75,000 in just 4 years! Sponsors and contributing organizations are encouraged to assist at the event as well. While Bethany heads up the organization of this Local Heroes Benefit, this is truly a community event made possible by numerous community organizations donating time and money and over 200 volunteers helping bring this placemaking even to LaPorte each year. Help to shine a light on those who serve and protect to make our community better!
